Janus Mobile SDK
1.2.0

Janus Mobile SDK 1.2.0 release notes

  • iOS SDK 1.2.0: October 16, 2026
  • Android SDK 1.2.0: October 16, 2026
  • Flutter SDK 0.3.0: October 16, 2026
The Flutter SDK wraps the iOS and Android SDKs, so Flutter 0.3.0 includes every iOS and Android change below. Install instructions are in the Mobile SDK documentation.

Upgrade Notes

  • Xcode 26.0 Or Later: iOS and Flutter apps need Xcode 26.0 or later to build against the iOS SDK. The SDK is now built with Xcode 26.0.1, the oldest supported Xcode, which fixes apps on earlier Xcode 26 releases failing to compile against iOS SDK 1.1.0.
  • Fides String Format: fidesString now always uses the TC,AC,GPP,NC section layout on iOS, Android and Flutter, whether consent was set natively or by FidesJS in a WebView. A TC string on its own reads TC,,. If your app parses the Fides string, read the sections by position rather than comparing whole strings.
  • Flutter JanusWebViewController.controller Removed (Breaking): The property is deprecated and now throws UnsupportedError, because it was never connected to the Janus WebView. Use buildWidget, loadUrl and evaluateJavaScript instead.

Consent Management

Consent management and enforcement across web, mobile, and server-side surfaces

  • New Features:
    • Banner Mode: Set enableBannerMode in JanusConfiguration to show banner_and_modal experiences as a compact banner before the full modal, matching the layered banner on the web. The banner offers Reject All, Accept All and Manage preferences, and appears only while consent is still needed. Text and button labels come from the experience configuration, and notices served from the banner are recorded with serving_component: banner. Off by default.
  • Updates:
    • Live App Tracking Transparency Status (iOS): The SDK checks the current ATT status at launch, on returning to the foreground, and in setConsent, so a change the user makes in iOS Settings is applied without waiting for a new consent prompt.
    • External Provider Consent Method: ConsentMethod.externalProvider (external_provider) records consent carried over from before Janus, such as a previous consent tool, so Fides can tell it apart from a choice made in the experience.
  • Bug Fixes:
    • On iOS, ATT-locked notices can no longer be turned on through a Janus-managed WebView while tracking is denied.
    • On iOS, a TCF banner closes once a host setConsent call resolves it.
    • TCF consent without a TC string no longer counts as given, so the TCF experience still shows until the user makes a choice.
    • On Android, back press, rotation and a dark-mode switch no longer close a consent experience, including TCF, that isn't dismissable.
    • Failed consent preference saves are retried instead of being lost.
    • A Fides string echoed into a WebView no longer erases the page's GPP section.

Consent Management

Consent management and enforcement across web, mobile, and server-side surfaces

  • New Features:
    • Swift Package Manager Support: The plugin supports Swift Package Manager on iOS alongside CocoaPods, and both use the same JanusSDK XCFramework.
  • Updates:
    • Janus-Managed Consent WebView: createConsentWebView now embeds the Janus-managed native WebView, so pages loaded with JanusWebViewController.loadUrl receive the app's consent and report FidesJS changes back as webview* events. loadUrl accepts only http and https URLs, and evaluateJavaScript returns the script's result. Unmount the WebView before calling releaseConsentWebView.
    • External Provider Consent Method: ConsentMethod.externalProvider is available in Flutter as well.
