Ethan Lo
Ethan Lo is a senior technical leader with deep experience architecting privacy, governance, and data infrastructure in highly regulated enterprise environments. As Chief Architect at Ethyca, he leads the technical strategy for Fides and drives the evolution of Ethyca’s Trusted Data Layer, embedding automated governance and privacy controls directly into modern data systems so organizations can operationalize regulatory requirements at scale.
Ethan’s career spans large-scale financial services engineering and global security leadership. Prior to Ethyca, he was a Senior Distinguished Engineer at Capital One, where he led privacy engineering frameworks and held senior leadership roles across data storage, access, and cloud governance, with a focus on automating compliance through system-level controls. He also served as CIO and Chief Information Security Officer at Premise Data, overseeing global technology and security strategy for a platform operating across 140 countries.
Earlier in his career, he held engineering and advisory roles at PwC, MITRE, Booz Allen Hamilton, and IBM, building durable systems where trust, resilience, and security are designed into the architecture from day one.

2020 - 2024Head of Cloud Governance Engineering, Capital One
Led engineering for Cloud Custodian, Capital One’s open-source cloud governance automation technology. Oversaw multiple teams building policy and rules-engine capabilities that improved security posture and enforced compliance and cost controls at scale across a large cloud footprint.
